Pride - Mother of The Seven Deadly Sins

"Vanity or Pride is an excessive belief in one's own abilities, that interferes with the individual's recognition of the grace of God. It has been called the sin from which all others arise."

Vanity is often linked with self-obsession to the point of narcissism and therefore, a mirror is symbolic for that very reason.

Purple is the colour of royalty. What more can be said about pride and loyalty when any one man is given authority to rule?

Peacocks are creatures of beauty and are therefore often a symbol of vanity hence their feathers.

The background is a shadow of death and decay as the vain often care not of the world around them, for their own self is of the highest importance.
